Such a Good Girl Liar

When Shannon Jones stepped off the small private ferry on to the island of
Fengari, the sun was shining just as she’d imagined it would. It had sparkled
on the water during the hour’s trip from the mainland, and now it bounced
off the concrete wall of the harbour. The masts of the sleek yachts moored
in the marina further along clanked in the slight breeze, and the fringed
leaves on the palm trees lining the walkway rippled.
The petrol vapour in the air was different to the salty sea smell she’d
been expecting, but it didn’t spoil her first proper view of Fengari; she was
OK with petrol.
